Can you believe “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” has come around again? It approaches so fast! With all the projects and tasks that come with the Holidays, decorating is something I like to get done early. I want to be able to enjoy it throughout all of December. There’s something about having your home all adorned for Christmas that makes you want to share it. Such a great opportunity to have a simple coffee with girlfriends or some couple friends over for a dinner party. Even on the days without entertaining… oh the joy it brings me to have the twinkle of the lights and the cheeriness of all the decorations brightening up our home. This year I am thrilled to be joining a group of blog friends, to invite you into our homes for a Christmas Home Tour! What a fun opportunity to see different styles of decorating for Christmas. I will list all of them at the end of this post! I’m so glad you are here… Welcome to Our Christmas Home 2019.
I always feel like the outside of the home gives such a fun preview of what to expect upon entering. I love sprucing up all the porches for Christmas. I always start out filling my window boxes and pots with fresh greenery from my yard, and my Mom’s yard, I might add. She has a whole hedge row of Cedar, one of my favorite sprigs of green to add to the mix.
Garlands, wreaths and potted trees are all great ways to add greenery to a porch. I love to add lights to all the greens as well for a festive glow at night. I also add in red dipped branches and faux berries to accent the Red toss pillows I enjoy displaying.
We have a side porch, as well so can’t forget to deck the halls on all sides! I really have fun with this porch. It has a couple of window boxes I filled with greens and berries, a ladder where a basket of berries is hung, a wooden star decorated with bells and ribbon, several birdhouses, a chair for more pillows and a fun lantern filled with some pinecones.
So, if backdoor guests are best then come on in the back door, you will step right into the mudroom. This is one of my favorite spaces to decorate. I tend to do something different every season. It seems to take only one item to inspire me to refresh an area. This year it happened to be this fun plaid bag that gave me inspiration.
When I went to retrieve all the Christmas bins this year, I couldn’t believe how many small trees I had acquired over the years. Trees of every shape, size and texture. It became my goal to find a home for each one, keep track and challenge the grandkids to find them. They will easily find four of them here! Directly behind this area, you’ll see the rest of the mudroom. A bench, that always has too much décor on it to actually sit on 😉 and a ladder that is also sporting another little tree.
The front foyer is also visible from here, with a taller lit tree and a little guy sitting on that bench as well. I won’t featuring every single tree, but I promise to let you know the final count at the end of this tour 🙂
Entering the Kitchen just to the left, you’ll instantly see how red has made it’s way into our home. No surprise for those of you that are familiar with my style; I love color!
Several smaller trees showing up in here as well. Love this little sparse tree standing proud on a galvanized cake stand. Such a fun way to put together a vignette and get in a bit of red again.
The kitchen is always an easy place to get festive. I just bring out all the red dinnerware and pitchers from the pantry, add in a couple Christmas elements, and we’re good to go. I did paint my doors (SW Rural green) this year which definitely helps pull together this Classic Christmas theme.
Adding wreaths to my kitchen windows was something I started last year. It was such a fun look that I changed out the ribbon to a neutral and kept them up for the whole winter. These were just moss wreaths that I hot glued fern stems to…it just made them a bit more whimsical.
Isn’t it the details that make such an impact?! Adding in some red winterberries from a shrub out front, a tiered tray filled with candy canes, a brightly colored towel on display and maybe a Christmas sign to sit on the counter. Just a few fun ways to add to the Christmas décor.
With an open concept floor plan, there’s not many corners to the living room where you can put up a tree. The first Christmas after we moved in it became apparent that we would have to figure something else out. Thus the Christmas tree in the middle of the house…I love it! It can be seen from everywhere.
It’s seen easily from the Mudroom, Kitchen, Living Room, Dining room, sunroom and foyer. It is still technically in the living room, I just slide the two couches apart and squeezed it right in between.
The tree then becomes the main focal point and from the moment you walk into the house it stands there to say Welcome to our Christmas Home 2019. It sure makes it easy to incorporate the red and green throughout the whole main living area. We make it a family tradition to go cut down our trees together each year. A Frasier Fir is always a good choice, I just love the arching branches. Once the tree goes up, the mantel becomes another space to really incorporate the colors that the tree is decorated in, as well as the rest of the room.
I love the feel of the tree being a part of every room…whether in the kitchen prepping or cleaning up, in the dining room having a meal or entertaining, or watching a Hallmark movie in front of the fire. It’s a festive feel wherever you are.
The Dining room table accounts for a few more trees… seven to be exact! So many different ones, but these cute cone-shaped ones with the bells are definitely a new favorite of mine.
These, along with the ribbon on the table, were this year’s inspiration for the classic red and green accent colors.
The sunroom is tucked in behind the dining area and has double doors that open into our Master. I so enjoy having a tree in here, as well, decorated to accent the blues in the room.
The windows sure are fun at night as the lights from the wreaths and the tree reflect off of them!
Just inside the double doors to our master bedroom is yet another tree. Last year was the first year I added a tree to our bedroom. No going back now, I love it so much!
In addition to the tree, I added some fun Christmas bedding for the occasion.
With décor this cozy, you do risk wanting to stay in your PJ’s all day with a cup of hot cocoa watching Hallmark movies!
If you leave the bedroom, walking out the opposite door, you end up right back in the foyer area. There are definitely touches of Christmas in every room, but this is pretty much the main living area.
I said I would count all the trees on the main level…I just ran around and counted FORTY-SIX! I found a spot for every one of them, big and small. Even the bathrooms house several trees! Do you think the grandkids will be able to find them all? 🙂 No matter the size or kind, each and every tree is there to say Welcome to our Christmas Home 2019.
So glad you stopped by and I hope you will visit each of the beautiful homes listed below.
