A CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR
I’m so excited to show you around for a little Christmas home tour! So glad you’re here, let me pour you a fun flavored cup of coffee and we’ll walk around and chat.
Color was the name of the game this year.. lots of traditional red made its way back into our house for the holidays. I get so excited at the beginning of the season, I usually go out and buy up all the Christmas magazines I can find, just to get inspired. I pour through them as I start to pull out all the Christmas bins and that’s all it takes, I’m off and running! From one room to the next, just about everyone gets a touch of festive decor.
I usually start in the mud room, benches are just the funnest to decorate. It’s easy enough to throw on a few pillows, add some greens and maybe a throw and how cute is that!?
Also using baskets, fun signs, little trees and lanterns adds to the merriment. I added several small trees throughout the house, finding the cutest ones at Kirkland’s and Target for $10-$15, they’re just my favorite.
Ladders are also such a great piece to style up. I usually change the wreath and the throws out for different seasons, and the rusty stars…well they’re the perfect final touch.
Just off the entryway, the laundry room got its own little Christmas refresh. This old window frame and bench, always gets its fair share of decor.
This sink area… I so enjoyed adding in some festive cheer. Here’s the little trees I was talking about again.. too FUN!
Now to head into the kitchen…the island, the very place where everything lands when walking in the door, I’m sure you can all relate. But layering up this cute galvanized tray is something I love to do for each season.
The rangehood space always holds a few favorite items, but for Christmas I just had to incorporate a few red elements, as well as this FUN mistletoe sign I found at Home Goods this year.. I love it! The sink area is what really stands out in our kitchen, so adding these smaller wreaths to the windows and several more red accent pieces made for the perfect amount of cheer.
Then there’s the massive tree! Christmas decorating really gets under way when the perfect tree is found. We make it quite the family event, all our kids go along, we grab lunch and coffee and away we go to find THEE tree that just has to come home with us. Here she is, in all her glory! It seems crazy to show you the pic standing by it uncut and then all done up, cuz it’s like a 3 day process. Ugh! But OH, SO WORTH IT in the end. Is it even Christmas if the fireplace mantel and hearth aren’t decked out?! I sure had fun with it this year. Along with my staple garland, I added curly willow branches to this jug and hung several ornaments from it..I love how it turned out. I ended up incorporating the red once the tree was up and red became the focus. So of course red pillows were a must, and can I just say ….there are so many FUN options for Holiday pillows! I am obsessed with pillows anyways, they make changing out decor so easy for each season.
Here’s a night time shot overlooking the dining room. I hosted several Holiday dinners, which is always a great reason to create different tablescapes. Candles are always my centerpiece of choice, they don’t take up a huge amount of room and it’s easy to add greens, berries and ribbon around the base of them.
On a daily basis, something more simple adorns the table. More miniature trees, I can’t seem to get enough of them. Christmas in the sunroom is absolutely magical at night, when the twinkle of the lights reflect off all the windows! To add a little extra charm, I hung wreaths in each window this year, and it created such a cozy look! This Christmas, the Holiday cheer even graced our master bedroom, which sits just inside these French doors. I put up a tree, several wreaths, garland and even the decked out the bed for the occasion. It’s been so cozy and romantic, I’ll actually miss the glow of the lights.
Can’t forget to pop some red into the master bath…it can’t feel left out. Ha! Walking out of the bedroom back to the main area of the house, the front foyer also receives its own little twinkling tree. Just big enough to greet you when you enter through the front door. I honestly think this little guy is my favorite of all the trees. But, there’s one more…
