I’m Tracy, and honestly this is way out of my comfort zone! Me? Writing a blog?! I prefer to think of it as little notes to my besties! Even now, to do an introduction or a “why” post… oh gosh! Where to begin.
I don’t consider myself a writer by any means, but I do know that I have a deep love for all things home & garden and to NOT share that with other like-minded individuals would be a shame. I would seriously be missing out on some great friendships that were meant to be!
We built our home a little over two years ago and it has been a dream come true! To plan out all the details and watch it all come together was just so much FUN (you’ll be hearing a lot of that word).
As you can well imagine, the icing on the cake is the ever-evolving details of the decor and getting to share those with all of you, here and on my Instagram, @plaids.and.poppies .
Which brings me to my style. I love so many different styles… and am I glad that pretty much anything goes now days! When having to decorate an entire house all at once, I chose to start with a neutral backdrop, making it possible to pop color in for different seasons, and do I love that part!
Color is my love! …Which brings me to the garden… Can I just say I have no idea where my intense passion for gardening came from?! But intense it is, and to this day one of my biggest accomplishments in life has been the honor of having my last home featured in Country Gardens magazine!
So here I am in a new house built basically in a corn field, with lots of concrete patios surrounding a pool, and I had this blank canvas to create new gardens. Exciting? Yes! Overwhelming? Of course!
Starting from scratch in the garden is something that’s new to me, as was building a home. I have no formal training in decor or landscape, just a “learn as I go” approach.
My desire would be for this space to be somewhat of a coffee date with a friend, a chat with a neighbor over the fence, or a handwritten letter you just received in the mail.
Some very special moments in life right there! Let’s be friends!
I saw you today for the first time on dig, plant, repeat. Your yard is so amazing. I do not do instagram but would love for you to be on YouTube. Even just shorts would be fabulous. Would you please consider it. If you decide to do it please let me know.
Thank you
