Don’t you feel like Fall gets the short end of the stick as far as seasons go?! It gets such a small window of time to really show off! There is so many great aspects of Fall… all the colorful foliage, the amazing grass plumes , and of course the garden harvest items to incorporate inside and out. All of which become perfect Fall Decor Favorites for the Home.

I absolutely love decorating for Fall just for that reason, bringing the outside in! It makes for an inexpensive transition as well. I love the look and feel of the natural and the organic. Picking some cattails, grass plumes, dried hydrangeas or bittersweet branches to put in a vase… costs nothing, yet sure adds to the warm, rich feel of Fall inside the home! Of course all the garden classics as well… you’ve got sunflowers, mums, pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks and the list goes on.
It really does come in handy that faux pumpkins have improved so much and have made their way into most stores. I tend to hit hobby Lobby every year to stock up on several real looking ones! So, come on in… I’ll show you all my Fall Decor Favorites for the Home!
The first place I usually start bringing Fall into my home is the dining room. It tends to be a fairly simple transition by just adding a centerpiece, so I start there and work my way into other rooms.
I started with a big twig basket that I had, and added several leaf stems to line the basket.
Then I added a grapevine ball that I secured by putting pumpkins all around it. I added some eucalyptus, cattails, grass plumes and some berries, using the grapevine ball to hold the stems in place.
I then filled in some of the bare areas with smaller pumpkins and the centerpiece was done is less than 15 minutes. (I have a tutorial on my IGTV.)
Next, the kitchen… Bittersweet, my all -time favorite for Fall! Real Bittersweet can be hard to find and kind of messy as well. There are so many really nice faux varieties in stems as well as garlands. The 2nd pic in this post of my front door, showcases a faux Bittersweet garland that I added in with grapevines. Such a standout look!
The beautiful color of the bittersweet set the stage nicely to add in fun pops of orange throughout the kitchen.
Easy enough to drape a Fall towel somewhere in the kitchen, display a cute fall mug or other kitchen pieces, and of course a few harvest items to grace the counter.
With an open floor plan, it’s nice to keep the same color flowing throughout.. the great room is a great space to incorporate more Fall Decor Favorites For the Home.
I just love to transition into a new season with throw pillows. Such a great way to pop the color in that you’re trying to highlight. I found a few at Home Goods and Pier1 that perfectly accented the colors I had chosen.
Throws are also a fun way to add in a color. I love to drape them around…on the couch, in a basket, on the hearth or over the chest that’s serving as a coffee table.
We can’t forget the fireplace! It is after all the season for a nice cozy night by the fire! The hearth is always a perfect spot to showcase Fall. I’m a huge fan of lanterns and candlesticks to adorn this area. I always use the timer candles that come on the same time every night throughout the cooler seasons. Instant cozy!
Signs are always an amazing addition to any season. Accented by more faux stems to give just the right look.
Just behind the couch I added some more harvest goodness as well as another lantern. Can you have to many places for candles..? I think not. You can see a couple more on the table as well.
I do love to play with this sofa table ..If I’m going to pick a bouquet from the garden, it’s the perfect spot to highlight it!
Just beyond the dining room is the sunroom, where it’s set apart a little bit from the rest of the house. It has a pretty specific color scheme already so I was able to find a few cute accessories to compliment the colors in there.
How awesome is that pillow? Once again, throw pillows for the win! Might as well play around with some of the fun colors faux pumpkins come in.. loving this wooden blue one.
AND…this view!…after the trees out back changed..?! I’d say it brought some of the pops of orange in here nicely!
Of course I added a some Fall foliage of my own.. who can resist?!
The laundry room I played with as well. It’s a space that’s easy to transition for the seasons. With this big old wooden window and bench its perfect for displaying wreaths and other Fall items.
The laundry room sits just off the mudroom, probably one of my favorite spaces to decorate for each season.
The ladder! I’m certain no matter what your style you can incorporate a ladder. There’s rustic ones as well as contemporary ones and they are such a great accent piece for so many different areas.
A bench is also a perfect spot to display more Fall goodness!
As well as the actual locker area. This all white backdrop always allows for the decor to pop no matter the color.
Why am I showing you the front foyer last.. I’m not sure, but it will be the perfect opportunity to lead you outside for a peek at the porches.
I have had this old basket for years and what a statement it still makes! So many different stems have been showcased in here, it surely gives a sweet greeting to all that enter in the front door.
Just inside the door sits another bench that should be for a place to sit and remove your shoes… however, it can get a bit occupied by decor as you can see. LOL! Well go ahead and move those items so you can put your shoes back on… we’re heading outside!
The front entrance was shown at the beginning of the post… but the rest of the front porch always gets a seasonal refresh as well. My window boxes eventually tire and it’s easy to add in a few fall plants to spruce it up.
As you can see, the window box on the right just around the corner was still going strong. But eventually they all get tired and I replace them with mums, cabbages or whatever Fall garden items stand out to me at the garden center.
My side porch also displays Fall in a whole different way. I dug up some sunflowers from the garden and placed them in a jug. Securing them with some curly willow branches hung above the door. A great display and perfect way for them to dry.
My side porch has a window box as well that I added a couple different items to. How fun are these huge cabbages?!
My back porch off the kitchen is where we do the majority of our porch sittin’. So needless to say it needs to be decorated for Fall as well. 😉 I had fun covering some of the pillows with a fabric to compliment the fall colors.
I had tried my hand at growing my own pumpkins this year so it was even more exciting to haul those in from the field to adorn the porch. Loved filling this obelisk with just a few.
Pumpkins are also the perfect way to fill in a planter or window box. My pool house even got speckled with a few… LOL!
I think I covered all my Fall Decor Favorites for the Home, inside and out! Like I said in the beginning… just too short of a season! The leaves are already starting to fall to the ground and we’ve already been hit with freezing temps. Such is Michigan. I hope you enjoy Fall to the fullest friends… maybe check out my last post on Hosting a Fall Harvest Party.

Thanks so much sweet friend!
Fall is my favorite season and it definitely gets short-changed! Love the color and texture you’ve incorporated into your home. So layered, and interesting! Could you share the source for your kitchen chairs? My goal is to incorporate more texture, less things into my decor. Thanks so much for all the inspiration!
Thanks Penny! If you are referring to my barstools I purchased them from Ballard Designs.. I know they still have them, they have been great stools!
Your blog is such a breath of fresh air in an otherwise sea of white, white and more white. I love color, and that is what drew me to your blog. You have a beautiful home, and it is decorated beautifully for fall. I can’t wait to see what you do at Christmas.
Thanks Pam! Christmas is for sure a fun time to add color! Red is one of my faves!
