With cooler temps and the leaves exploding with color, I always want to make the most of the time left to enjoy the outdoors! I love the idea of big ole’ sweaters, mittens, hot chocolate, plaid flannel blankets and a roaring fire…just ushering in all the goodness of Fall! So why not..?..Hosting a Fall Harvest Party will be FUN! A great reason to have some friends over and take in all the season has to offer.
Here in Michigan we need to take advantage of all the outdoor activities we can, those cooler temps can easily turn frigid in no time. So get out the sweaters, and flannel blankets and let’s plan a Fall party!

Highlight the season
With all the Fall goodness that surrounds us this time of year, it’s pretty easy to decorate for a harvest party. A few cornstalks, pumpkins, gourds, mums and you’re on your way to a beautiful backyard party.
An Autumn greeting
Guide your guests towards the festivities by ushering them in with pumpkins lit by candles, tiki torches or patio string lights. There’s nothing quite like the glow of warm lights to make for a warm welcome.
Fall Flavors
Of course the yummy flavors of Fall are sure to be on the agenda when Hosting A Fall Harvest Party. There’s so many great seasonal foods. Make it simple and do a potluck, or just provide several finger foods for enjoying around the fire. A quick and easy snack item can easily be made festive by using the items of Fall. A pumpkin perhaps can serve as a place to hold a yummy Carmel dip for apples.
Let’s not forget the Fall drink options..cider anyone? So many fun ideas for Harvest drink options. A spiced wine perhaps, hot chocolate, or a drink dispenser filled with Fall flavors
A Table on Display
Such a great opportunity to use all the cute paper plates and napkins that are adorned with pumpkins and leaves! To really dress up the table, drape it in a cute plaid tablecloth, a throw or a scarf will also work.
Chalkboard Fun
There’s always somewhere you can add a chalkboard! Write something to welcome your friends, or maybe a Fall quote, or just something silly. Why not highlight the S’more station?!
Comfy and Cozy
We definitely want our friends to feel comfy and cozy, that’s always the goal. Set out a basket of flannel blankets or throws, if nothing else they look really cute on display.
You could always have scarves, mittens and hats as options also.
If you’re short on seating, set bales of hay around.
I even found some really cute pillow covers to highlight the season and make the night even cozier.
I’m certain the ideas are endless when Hosting a Fall Harvest Party. The point is it can be fairly simple ..build a fire and they will come. With a few paper products, some marshmallows and a bag of sweet potato chips, you’re on your way to having a FUN Fall evening with friends.
Here’s hoping you take every opportunity to enjoy Fall to its fullest!
